Salinas High School Robotics Team
Founded in 2017, the Salinas High School Robotics Team strives to engage active learners in the challenging world of competitive robotics while also introducing them to STEM.
What is FIRST?
FIRST (For Inspiration and Recognition of Science and Technology) was established in 1989 with the goal of inspiring a love of STEM in students all around the globe. To achieve this, FIRST has developed a wide array of accessible robotics competitions targeting all ages from kindergarten to high school. They have garnered support from numerous well-established companies, such as Google, Apple, NASA, Boeing, and GM.
The FIRST Robotics Competition (FRC) is the varsity selection in FIRST’s palette. Kickoff day marks the start of the FRC build season. An elaborate field game is revealed to FRC teams at one standardized time, and each team is given six weeks (along with a kit) to build their bot. It demands skills from all walks of life, from the technical skills required to craft an efficient robot to strong management and fundraising skills. Participants develop career skills and bonds not only essential to the competition, but to their futures in a technologically-oriented world.
